About Demelza
For 15 years Demelza had worked behind the scenes as a Deputy Stage Manager on shows across the UK. She also has done photography as a hobby from a very young age.
Being behind the scenes or behind the camera was a comfortable place to be.
Facing the fear of being seen and heard, she is releasing her voice for the first time as an artist, beginning with a song shaped by the times we are living through, and by the feeling that some things can no longer remain unspoken.
The life changing accident
In 2016, within a month of moving to Brighton, Demelza was run over by a car and was clinically dead for over 12 mins.
The road to recovery..
Within the last 10 years , it's been a huge journey of recovery, rebuilding and reclaiming her life and sovereignty. Before the accident Demelza had a very positive mindset on life, a ‘live life to the fullest every day’ attitude. All her self development work and studies were put to the test on her healing journey. Brighton turned out to be the perfect environment for her recovery, gifting her many local options of healthy holistic practices such as BioDanza classes for her recovery.
Demelza had no memory of what happened when she was classed as clinically dead, but years later she had a healing session where the muscle memory was activated and she witnessed her death journey.

The lightning bolt...
In early 2022 Demelza was attending a gathering. The Singer Songwriter duo Scott & Maria were singing there. They were the first musicians she’d listened to in a long time that really moved her and she wanted to show her appreciation. She approached Maria to say thank you whilst she was still on stage. In the moment Maria leant forward and put her forehead on Demelza’s… in that moment Demelza felt a bolt of lightning going through her body and heard an old man’s voice saying “Release the Voice”.
After this experience it took a few weeks for Demelza to pluck up the courage to ask Maria to hold vocal 1:1 sessions with her. Within that year those singing lessons led to more experiences of releasing the voice within group gatherings.
The retreat expansion
From 2023 - 2025, Demelza started to take braver steps in releasing the voice, she knew she needed to follow the guidance. She began attending retreats and workshops with female singers such as Peia, Anna Bariyani, Ajeet, Ayla Schafer, Curawaka, Nessi Gomes and Lex Empress.
2024 became a year of healing after her mum suddenly passed away early in the year. After her mothers death Demelza started to connect with the rose as it was her mum’s favorite flower.
El Mexico
2025 the ‘releasing the voice journey’ really started to excel. Within a week of being in Mexico at a holistic healing retreat she set an intention to face her fear and release her voice. The following day Demelza was at a woman's breathwork circle and was asked if anyone wanted to share a song. Demelza faced her fear and used this opportunity. Off the back of this, one week to the day of the intention being set, Demelza was asked to sing at the Mother Earth Temple at Bacalar with the band Mistica Tribu for the 2-2 portal.
Having spent time in her career ensuring cast were there to do their sound checks with the mics, it was a magical transformational moment to witness herself doing a sound check on her own voice and in such a beautiful temple.
The facilitators name that asked if anyone wanted to sing after the breathwork was
Maria Quetzal. Maria is in the music video for “Sing To The Waters” as the Ocean water carrier. Maria is also in the band Mistica Tribu that Demelza sang with at the temple. It felt really special to include the band in the video as they have been a big part of the journey to release the song “Sing to the Waters”.
The elemental wisdom journey
Later in 2025 Demelza joined a 5 month container of working with the elements with Niki Shefras - The Vida Sana and Amy Spencer. When they got to the water element, Demelza’s body said she needed to go to Glastonbury. Then it said she needed to go to the white spring and bathe in it. Whilst bathing in the white spring the melody and some words for “Sing to the Waters” started to channel through.
The full lyrics to the song came later after some more magical experiences. These included being at the Great Goddess Gathering festival for the first time on the sacred Welsh land, listening to Mae Bird’s set, swimming in the River Dee, going to the Wild Voice Retreat in Italy with Peia and Anna Bariyani and releasing and singing to water and fire.
From that point it all started to flow and recording started.
There have been several challenges along the way of birthing this song. Through birthing this water song Demelza has really learnt to surrender and to go with the flow.
She is really looking forward to letting this song and video flow into the world to help people connect with the waters around them and within them.
